About Us

μDIE is the name of the Microelectronics and IoT research group within the Department of Engineering at the Universidad Católica del Uruguay.

Our main areas of research are:

  • Analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design for low-power applications
  • Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) for implantable medical divices
  • MOS transistor noise modeling and low noise designs
  • IoT applications for the agro-industry
  • Integrated optoelectronic devices design and characterization
  • Photodetector Application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for pattern correlation and alternative imaging

μDIE first started in 2005 and has the experience and a basic tool set for the design and characterization of low power and low frequency ASICs, In the last 20 years, its members have fabricated >20 ASICs, published 25 journal and 100 conference papers, while participating >15 funded research projects.

μDIE has organized and co-organized several international conferences:

  • CAFE 2025

3rd IEEE Conference in AgriFood Electronics (CAFE). October 8 - 10, 2025, Montevideo, Uruguay.
